Galway United Community Academy

The Galway United Academy came into existence in 2015. This was part of a new League of Ireland National league structure and every national league club had to have an U19 squad. The following season the U17 squad was added and since then the U15 and U13 squads have been added. Over this 5 year period Galway United went from just having the senior squad to now having 5 national league squads. On the pitch the U19s reached the final in 2016 under Johnny Glynn and Nigel Keady. In 2018 the U17s reached the semi final under Alan Murphy.Johnny Glynn is now head of performance in the Academy and the management teams are as follows:-

In 2018 the Galway United Community Academy was set up. This was designed to connect Galway United to the Galway schoolboy clubs and also provide a base from which young players could be identified at the base of the Pyramid of the Galway United Coaching structure.This coaching programme consists of weekly coaching sessions from September to May and Coaching Clinics throughout the summer. over 80 boys attend the community Academy and also continue to play fortheir schoolboy clubs.Gary Traynor, UEFA B Licence is head of player ID in the community Academy.Galway United Academy play all home games at the East Academy grounds in Castle park and are currently establishing a new underage committee to service the underage structure.
